Dear Backers,
Hope you all had a great weekend! It is great to see us chugging along with 400+ of you wonderful backers and almost $15,000 raised so far and still ways to go before the end of the campaign.
So what's cooking on our end?
We thought this is the right time to provide an update about talks with our manufacturers so that you are in the loop. Since we are past the 140% mark of our funding goal, we felt it was safe to go ahead and ask the factory to procure the steel and start machining (CNC) the Molds. They have told us they will make time in their schedule to advance this step (previously slated for beginning of October). This should hopefully give us around extra 15-20 days of margin in the manufacturing timeline.
We have also been finalizing the Packaging Design for the Set of 3 ChopTainers and getting closer to the paper style, images, text and printing style that is going to be used.
Stretch Goal Behind the Scenes
We have been negotiating with our manufacturer for including an alternate color in the manufacturing, especially for our Kickstarter backers. It is taking a little time because of the number of backers being far less than their MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) and they are trying to see how it will become viable for them (and us). But we are very close.
For those of you who are interested, here is how it becomes a logistical (and financial) nightmare. This is not to sound negative but just to share what we are dealing with here to make announcing the stretch goal possible.
Currently, there is only one SKU (or UPC or bar code) because each Set of 3 contain 2 grey regular and 1 green colander ChopTainers. As soon as we introduce another color option for the colander (stretch goal), the number of SKUs suddenly go from 1 to 14, because of the various combinations possible at the different reward levels of 1 Set to 4 Sets. This means different bar codes, different way of packaging to distinguish the packages, etc. We will have to be very clear with a lot of Excel files so that the logistics company and the factory does not get confused during packing and shipping to you, our Backers.
However, we are working all this and sincerely trying to get the stretch goals announced hopefully soon.
So thank you once again, and look out for our next update very soon.
Until then, chop on!
Shilpi and Shrenik
PS: Projects we love and support
For the love of our Kickstarter community, we would like to share three projects that we recently supported, as they solve something we personally have problems with. We would highly recommend you go check them out.
1. ButcherBox (We so want to start their grass-fed meat delivery service, like yesterday!)
ButcherBox - healthy 100% grass-fed beef delivered to your doorstep.
2. Perch (We are tired of having neck and back pains sitting all day in front of our computers)
Perch - A revolutionary sit-to-stand desk, beautifully designed to be the most customizable and affordable sit-to-stand desk in the market.
3. Fishbone (We would love to organize our phone and tablets in one place while charging)
Nowadays, many people own multiple devices, when it comes to charge our devices, we all have experienced the frustration of not enough electrical outlets, messy cables and slow charging. Fishbone Charging Station is a practical device that can help you solve all these issues. Reward starts from $29! Check them out!
